Children and Teen Groups
The children and teen program is offered in conjunction with our young mother’s support program. The program provides professional therapy individually and in a group setting to help children and teens ages 3 to 15 cope with the confusion, fear and stress caused by parental illness.

Bereavement Services for Children and Teens
Our bereavement program serve the needs of children and teens who have lost a parent or close family member to cancer. Children have special needs when losing someone close to them. They do not express their grief in the same way as adults and may lack the experience to understand all they may be feeling. We use discussion, art, play and other therapeutic activities that provide a safe, culturally sensitive environment that give children the outlets to process their grief and help them through the bereavement process.

Las Angelitas Peer Support Program
Women from Círculo de Vida’s support groups are selected and formally trained to act as peer support counselors call Las Angelitas (the angels), a name given to them by the women they serve. Las Angelitas provide one-to-one support via home and hospital visits to Latinas too ill to attend a support group due to cancer treatment, to those who elect not to join a support group, and those in the terminal phase of their illness. In addition to emotional support for the client and her family, Las Angelitas insure understanding of surgery and treatment recommendations; assist Latinas in connecting to community resources; and identify barriers that may prevent clients from receiving quality cancer treatment.
