Developmenta Círculo de Vida (CDV) offers a training program for community agencies interested in developing Spanish-language support groups and/or a one-to-one peer support counseling program. The training is delivered over three consecutive seven-hour days. On one level the training program offers concepts, counseling techniques, and activities which guide participants through the process of developing the skills needed to become effective group facilitators or one-on-one peer support counselors. On another level, the training explores personal motivations and attitudes that promote self-awareness and confidence.

Las Angelitas As the first successful Spanish-language cancer support program in the San Francisco Bay Area, CDV is widely recognized for its work in the field of cancer support. CDV programs have helped over 5,000 Latinos over the past 20 years including patients and their families. CDV staff has provided in-depth training for providers and has written two manuals on culturally competent and appropriate support for Latino cancer patients: “A Guide to Developing and Sustaining Spanish-Speaking Support Groups for Latinas who have Breast Cancer,” and “A Peer Support Program for Latinas with Breast Cancer: Las Angelitas Model.”
