Anna María Nápoles, PhD, MPH, Treasurer
Associate Professor/Behavioral Epidemiologist


Anna Nápoles, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor and Behavioral Epidemiologist in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is affiliated with the UCSF Center for Aging in Diverse Communities where she leads the Community Liaison Core and Co-leads the Measurement and Methods Core, and with Redes en Acción: The National Latino Cancer Research Network. Her research focuses on patient-clinician communication, cancer disparities among underserved adults, and community-based models of research and service delivery in ethnically and socioeconomically diverse groups. She is working with Círculo de Vida to develop community-based participatory research projects to address the needs of Latinos with cancer and their families.

Judith Luce, M.D.
Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California, Director of Oncology Services, San Francisco General Hospital


Judith Luce, M.D. is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and the University of California, San Francisco. She is trained and board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Luce has long held an interest in community-based cancer control, and this has resulted in research on ways to increase breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up in low income and ethnic minority women. This effort resulted in the formation of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Initiative in the San Francisco Department of Public Health, of which she is now the Medical Director. She has served on the California Breast Cancer Research Council and on the Medical Payments Review Committee for the Breast Cancer Treatment Fund. She is the mother of two and serves as a volunteer on school and community agency boards.
